DRAFTING 3

Course description

 In Architectural Drafting 3 you will be introduced to advanced architectural design concepts, and Building Information Modeling (BIM). Emphasis is placed on the use of 3D CAD tools in the design and execution of site and foundation plans, electrical/lighting plans, stair/railing design, bath and kitchen details, multi-level floor systems, site development, renderings and walkthroughs, as well as small commercial building and design.

Exercises

Students will work on exercises to improve on the skills that are being taught in class. The exercises may be answering questions pertaining to a certain topic, creating Revit drawings, or sketching a variety of shapes and objects.

 

Tests

Tests will be multiple choice, in a similar format to the end of course state final for Architectural Drafting 3. If you make below a C on a test, you have the option to retake the test within a week of the original test date outside of the normal class time (ie. lunch/after school).

 

Projects

This is a project based course. Students will be working toward a complete set of working drawings created using the Autodesk Revit program.

January 22 - January 25: S.H.E.D. Competition - Tiny House

January 28 - February 6: Apply procedures to create a Site Development Plan.

February 7 - March 8: Apply procedures to create Multi-level Residential Floor Plans.

March 11 - March 20: Understanding Foundation Design, Calculations, and Construction.

March 21 - March 27: Apply procedures to create Advanced Kitchen and Bath Details.

March 28 - April 3: Apply procedures to create Basic Electrical Design Concepts.

April 4 - April 12: Apply procedures to create Stair/Railing Designs for Construction.

April 22 - April 26: Apply procedures to Create Rendering and Walkthroughs.

April 29 - May 10: Apply procedures and Construction Techniques to Create a Small Commercial Building Design.

May 13 - May 22: Prepare for Autodesk Revit Professional Certification

May 23: Revit Professional Certification

May 24 - May 25: Print Plans

May 28 - May 31: Review for Final Exam
